Terms of use
The essentials, in plain English.
Short version: Read freely, contribute honestly, follow the Community Guidelines and do not copy the ClassTested library in bulk. The rest of this page explains those terms in more detail.
Last updated: 17 September 2026
1. What ClassTested is
ClassTested is an open library of classroom techniques, with ratings and discussions contributed by teachers.
Everything is free to read without an account. Creating an account allows you to rate techniques, post comments and vote on other contributions.
By using ClassTested, you agree to these terms. If you create an account, you also agree to the Community Guidelines, which form part of these terms.
2. Your account
You sign in using a link sent to your email address. Keep your email account secure, because anyone with access to it may be able to sign in as you.
Accounts are for education professionals aged 18 or over. Each person may have only one account.
You may use a pseudonym, but you must not use a name intended to impersonate or mislead others.
3. Your contributions remain yours
You retain ownership of your comments and ratings.
By contributing to ClassTested, you give us permission to:
- Store and display your contributions on the site.
- Include your ratings in averages, rankings and other aggregated results.
- Publish aggregate findings based on member contributions.
This permission lasts for as long as the site exists. We need it for ClassTested to work, and we do not ask for rights beyond those purposes.
Together, the ratings, reviews and discussions submitted by members form the ClassTested dataset. We may publish findings from that dataset, for example that wait time is the highest-rated technique among primary teachers. Any findings we publish will follow our suppression rules and will never identify an individual member.
We will not sell your individual contributions.
If you delete a comment, it will be removed. If you delete your account, your ratings will remain in the anonymous averages, but their connection to your account will be removed, as explained in our Privacy Policy.
4. Rules for contributing
The Community Guidelines set out the rules for contributing to ClassTested.
The most important rule is worth repeating: nothing you post may identify a student. You must give colleagues, schools and other adults the same protection.
Honest negative reviews are welcome. If a comment breaks the rules, any moderation will remain visible, as described in the Community Guidelines. We may remove content that breaks the rules and close accounts following serious or repeated breaches.
You must not interfere with the operation of the site. This includes:
- Using automated tools to access or extract content in bulk.
- Working around posting or usage limits.
- Creating accounts automatically or by machine.
5. Our content and what you may share
The technique write-ups, problem pages and other material published by ClassTested are protected by copyright.
You are welcome to print any ClassTested one-pager and share it within your school; that is what it is designed for. You may also quote from the site if you provide clear attribution and a link to the original page.
Without our written permission, you must not:
- Republish the library, in bulk or in substance, on another website or as part of another product.
- Use the library to create a competing dataset.
- Use the library to train a competing product.
- Extract or republish member ratings, reviews or discussions in bulk.
You may quote an individual community comment if you credit the author and link to the original discussion.
The classroom techniques themselves belong to no one. Nothing in these terms claims ownership of the underlying teaching practices.
6. Your class lists
My Classroom lets you store details about your classes to run its tools: class names, and the first names or initials you enter for your students. What you enter is your responsibility, and you confirm you are allowed to use it; for pupil data, your school remains the data controller and ClassTested processes it only to provide the tools to you. We never show it to anyone else, and we never use it for analytics or anything beyond running the tools. You can delete a class, or your whole account, at any time, and the data is permanently erased when you do. If we ever became aware of a breach affecting your class data, we would tell you promptly so you could inform your school.
7. What we do not promise
The techniques on ClassTested are starting points for your professional judgement, not guarantees. A technique that works well in one classroom may fail in another. You know your students and your context better than any page on this site can.
ClassTested is provided as it is. We work to keep the site accurate and available, but we cannot guarantee that it will always be either.
To the extent permitted by law, ClassTested is not responsible for decisions made based on information published on the site. Nothing in these terms limits liability where the law does not allow it to be limited.
8. Changes and questions
If we make an important change to these terms, we will update the date at the top, explain what changed and place a notice where signed-in members will see it.
These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales.
