Say what actually happened

ClassTested depends on honest accounts from real classrooms. The most useful comments include the age group, the subject, what you tried and what happened as a result. "Worked brilliantly" and "fell flat" are equally welcome, but both are more helpful with some context.

Please rate a technique only after trying it with a real class. Your rating should reflect how effective the technique was for you. Each rating includes your phase and subject, so a two-star rating from a primary generalist can help other primary teachers instead of disappearing into an overall average.

A low rating accompanied by an honest account is exactly the kind of contribution ClassTested is for.

Protect every student

Never share anything that could identify a child. Do not include names, initials or details specific enough for a parent, colleague or other member of your school community to recognise them.

Before posting about a student, read your comment again and ask: could someone from my school work out who this is? If the answer is yes, remove or change the identifying details.

Please show adults the same care. Do not identify your school, colleagues or leadership team, whether you are praising them or criticising them. You post under a pseudonym so that you can speak honestly; give the people you mention the same protection.

Disagree with ideas, not people

Teachers here work across different phases, subjects and countries, so disagreement is natural, and welcome.

Challenge the claim, share a counter-example or ask about the context of someone else's classroom. Respond to the idea rather than judging the teacher. Tone can be difficult to read online, so give your reply one final check before posting.

Vote for what is useful

The voting arrows help decide which comments the next reader sees first. Upvote contributions that would help another teacher, including thoughtful comments you disagree with.

A detailed two-star review from someone who gave a technique a fair try deserves to be seen. Downvoting it simply because it criticises a technique you like may hide information another teacher needs.

Use your own words

Summarise ideas in your own words and credit the source. A short quotation with clear attribution is fine.

Do not copy substantial passages from books, training materials or paywalled articles. We will remove them. Link to the original source instead.

No selling

Advertising, affiliate links and promotional posts are not allowed.

If you created a free resource that directly answers a question in the discussion, you may share it once. Make it clear that the resource is yours, then leave it there.

How moderation works

Every comment has a Report link. Reports are reviewed by a moderator, usually within two days.

When a comment is removed, "[removed by moderators]" appears in its place. This keeps moderation visible rather than silently removing contributions.

Comments that receive many downvotes are collapsed behind a "show anyway" link. This reflects the community's judgement, not a moderation decision, and the comment remains available to read.

If you delete your account, your ratings will remain but will no longer be linked to you. Your comments will also remain and will appear under the name "[deleted]". If you want your comments removed as well, delete them individually before deleting your account.

By posting, you agree to these guidelines and the terms of use. Your ratings and comments become part of ClassTested's public record of what works, for whom and in real classrooms.
