Privacy
If you only browse ClassTested, we do not store information about you.
This page explains what we collect from members, why we collect it and what you can do with your data.

If you only browse
We do not store information about you. No account is created, no tracking cookies are used and no profile is built while you read.
We use Umami to understand how the site is being used. Umami uses no cookies and stores no personal data. It counts page views and five anonymous events:
- A rating was saved.
- A comment was posted.
- A vote was cast.
- A search was run.
- A page was printed.
These events do not reveal who you are. Umami does not follow you across other websites, and it never records what you type into the search box.
This is why ClassTested does not display a cookie banner. Analytics sets no cookies, and the session cookie used for signing in is essential to providing that service.
If you create an account
ClassTested uses email links for signing in, so we store your email address.
We use your email only to sign you in and, occasionally, to send essential messages about your account or data. We never use it for newsletters or marketing. It is not shown publicly and is shared only with the service providers needed to operate sign-in and deliver the email.
Your profile contains:
- A display name.
- Your teaching phase.
- Your subjects.
- Your country.
Using a pseudonym is welcome and entirely normal. Honest classroom reviews sometimes require one. We never ask which school you work at, and the Community Guidelines ask you not to name it.
A session cookie keeps you signed in. Your choice of light or dark theme is stored only in your browser and never leaves your device.
If you use My Classroom
The toolkit stores what you enter about your classes: class names and the first names or initials you give for your students. We ask you to use first names or initials only, never surnames. This data exists solely to run your tools. It is never public, never shared, never used in analytics, and never used for anything else. Deleting a class erases its data permanently, and deleting your account erases all of it: this is a true deletion, unlike comments, because these are your working notes rather than part of any public record. It is stored with Supabase in their London (UK) region, like everything else on this site.
What is public
Your display name, phase, subjects and country are public. Comments you post appear publicly alongside your display name.
Your individual votes are private. They affect a comment's score, but no other member or visitor can see how you personally voted.
Your individual star ratings are also private. Ratings appear only:
- As part of an average based on at least five ratings.
- As an optional rating label attached to your own comment.
Other members and visitors cannot look up how you personally rated a technique. A moderator may view individual contributions when necessary to operate and moderate the site.
If a moderator hides one of your comments, you will see any note explaining the decision. The person who reported the comment will be told the outcome, but not given private information about you.
The text of a removed comment remains in our records as part of the moderation audit trail. Reports and their outcomes are also retained so that we can moderate consistently. The identity of someone who submits a report is never shown to the person being reported.
Where your data is stored
ClassTested uses the following service providers:
- Supabase, in its London, UK region, stores account and site data, including your My Classroom class lists.
- Vercel serves the website.
- Resend delivers sign-in emails.
- Umami Cloud stores anonymous visit counts and never receives your name or email address.
These providers process data on our behalf and according to our instructions.
Deleting your account
You can delete your account immediately from your profile page.
When you delete it:
- Your email address and profile are erased.
- Your comments remain but appear under the name "[deleted]", allowing existing discussions to continue making sense.
- Your star ratings remain in anonymous averages, with their connection to your account removed.
- Your votes are deleted.
- Reports you submitted remain in the moderation record, but your name is removed.
If you also want the text of your comments erased, delete each comment before deleting your account.
Your rights
You can view and correct your profile information from your profile page.
To request a copy of your data, or to ask us to correct or erase something that cannot be managed from your profile, email hello@classtested.com. Your request will be handled by a real person.
The law allows up to one month for a response, although we aim to respond much sooner.
If you are in the UK or EU and are unhappy with our response, you may complain to your local data protection authority. In the UK, this is the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO).
If this page changes
We will update the date at the top and explain what changed. We will never quietly expand the information we collect.
